Cheesy Church Signs…
Right…the details. This Sunday, The Table is packing up it’s furnishings, moving a few of them into our new temporary home, and trundling the rest off to a storage space. This will be easy…if lots of us pitch in and help. Here is the plan:
We’ll meet at the usual time and place. We’re going to spend some time reflecting together on the season we’ve shared together at Independent, tell a few stories, share our collective gratitude for the lovely home it’s been. Then, at around 11:30, pizza will arrive and we’ll eat. And then we’ll pack it all up, carry it downstairs, load it up, and head out. A few of us will move items over to our new place, which is just down the street. A few of us will need to drive out to Steinbach, where Justin’s company has graciously offered us free warehouse space for the extras, and unload whatever we will be keeping there.
I know this has all created uncertainty for some folks, but let me reiterate – we are not becoming homeless. We are being reminded that in ways both large and small, we exist as a community because of kindness; kindness that operates in practical ways like helping move, or providing space. Our temporary home has been provided to us at no charge by the family that owns the building, so once again we are being collectively offered exactly the kind of gracious hospitality that all of us long to experience individually. It’s quite lovely! We’ll talk about that more as we begin to gather in the new space.
NOTE: We WON’T be gathering next Sunday (February 14th). We will begin meeting in the new space at the same time (10:30 a.m.) on Sunday, February 21st. I’ll explain that in more detail on Sunday, but for now you can plan the long weekend without including a gathering at The Table.
So wear grubbies, bring some gloves, a toque and your best “it’ll be an adventure” attitude, and we’ll see you on Sunday. It’ll be a moving experience (sorry, couldn’t resist…)
Peace,
Tim
