Another Perspective on Healing
Hello folks. I’m super excited about what we’ve got planned for this Sunday’sgathering at The Table! As those of you that are part of our Sundaymornings know, Wally and Theresa gifted us as a community with our own Medicine Bag at Christmas. It resides on the table at the front, alongside other symbols that our community finds meaningful. Wally explained the contents of that gift when he gave it to us, which I so appreciated. This Sundayis sort of an extension of that experience.
In the time we usually set aside for the Talky Bit, Wally is going to share and explain three songs. He’ll offer them to us in their original form (with his drum) and in their original language, and then unpack them. There will be a welcome song, a song about our shared need for healing, and a song that acknowledges our ancestors, our connection to earth and our connection to Creator. And then him and I will have a conversation about indigenous perspectives on healing. I think this could all be a very beautiful and significant contribution to the conversations we’ve been having about anxiety and the genius of Jesus in such things. So…bring an open mind and heart, a sense of expectancy, and we’ll gather to explore.
Kid’s Table will be on, of course, as will the coffee pot and the fishy crackers. Can’t have a gathering without those…
We’ll meet a Creative Manitoba ( 245 McDermot Ave – 4th floor) at 10:30(ish).
I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
-Tim
