An Interesting Intersection

***UPDATE***Due to the nature of this service we did not record it for the podcast.

I was going to put “An Important Intersection” in the subject line, but upon reflection I realized that I have no way of knowing the relative importance of what I have in mind for this Sunday morning. When we gather this week, it will be our first time together in the “new decade”. Calendars being what they are, that’s a bit arbitrary, but it still feels like a marker. It’ll also mark approximately ten years since I joined The Table, a decade that I often tell people is the most fun I’ve ever had doing this kind of work. So that strikes me personally as an interesting intersection as well. And when I take a moment in my imagination to look around the room, I see people that have just joined the community in the past few months as well as people that have been there longer than I have, and everywhere in between – a fascinating mix of human beings!

What I would like to do is spend some time looking back over the past decade – not exclusively through the lens of my experiences but through the much wider and more intriguing lenses of our shared perspectives. How about this – let’s put the chairs in a circle and tell some stories – moments that we recall as significant over our time at The Table, however long or short that time has been. And then we’ll think out loud a bit about what we feel matters going forward – not future-casting so much as dreaming out loud. Because of who we are and what we value, I feel confident this conversation will also open our minds and hearts to the presence of the Divine – both in our recollections and in our future aspirations. I’m looking forward to the conversation.

We’ll meet at our usual time (10:30 a.m. – ish), and our usual place (Creative Manitoba – 245 McDermot Ave, 4th floor). We will still only have access by the elevator, but we should have stair access again by next Sunday.

Kids Table is on. Timbits are back. Coffee, fishy crackers…all things good and lovely shall be laid out in welcome.

I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
Tim Plett
