The Deep End – Exploring Religious Trauma Part 4 + Kids Table
Hey folks – this week, when we gather at VA Cafe (lower level, 10:45 am), we’ll check in with Community Time, then jump in and swim around in the deep end some more. However, we’re going to take the “swimming” metaphor somewhere a little different this week, and explore something that is alongside the particulars of religious trauma. We haven’t all been traumatized by religion, but we have all encountered (or at least seen evidence of) toxic systems of belief. Some of those have been religious, some not. But in either case, it’s a pretty important life-skill to know how to spot a destructive system. So this week, and next week, we’re going to spend some time considering some of the big markers of those systems. We’re going to “trouble-shoot our trouble-shooting skills” a bit.
There’s also something on the agenda for Kids Table, and some time to just hang out with our fellow-explorers.
For those not able to attend in person, we’ll livestream here and podcast later in the week here.
As always, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Peace,
Tim Plett
P.S. Just a reminder that this time of year often comes with a pronounced drop in donations, and our donations are what keep the lights on. So if giving financially is a way you support what you are part of, thank you for keeping The Table in mind as you choose what you will support. You can find links to ways to donate online here. Donations are tax-deductible.
