The Deep End – Exploring Religious Trauma Part 3 + Kids Table
Hey folks – welcome to another not-so-cold-you-could-freeze-
One of the reasons I’m looking forward to this particular exploration is because it feels like the direction of our travels over the past two weeks has been primarily “down”. We’ve been outlining the problem, if you will. That’s important to any process that moves toward healing or recovery, of course. But it can also be difficult and wearisome. This week, we start to turn the corner by exploring some basics of understanding what trauma is and how it works. That might not sound like much of a change of direction, but imagine it being like waking up the morning after a big snowfall (there’s the weather again!) to discover someone left you the gift of a snowblower. Clearing the snow will still be a lot of work, but now you have a tool you didn’t have before, and that can provide a little infusion of energy to keep moving into the challenge. At least, that’s what I’m hoping will be the case.
We’ll gather as usual at VA Cafe at 10:45, check in with one another, and then dive right into our exploration. There is something planned for Kids Table participants as well. We’ll both livestream and podcast this gathering, for those not able to attend.
I’ll see you on Sunday.
