The Best of Interruptions...and Thriving In Times of Transition (with the Kids Table)

As you may know (and as Jimmy Kimmel recently reminded many of us), we sometimes have strong feelings about being interrupted. It would be easy to assume that those feelings are always unpleasant, but that’s not necessarily the case.

As you may recall, three weeks ago the Talky Bit was queued up to be about thriving in times of transition. However, on that particular date our Community Time took up most of the morning, not least of all because several folks in our community had experienced unanticipated personal losses – grevious interruptions – in their lives. So we focused on that, as we should have. While I was, and continue to be, saddened by those losses, I am also grateful that we are nimble enough as a group to respond in the way that we did. It’s not everything that those suffering a loss need, but it was something we could offer.

And, in the weeks following, we had Dasha as our guest, and then Anna – both intriguing humans who shared their stories and gifts with us in such generous ways. I wouldn’t have traded either of those mornings for any Talky Bit I’ve ever shared.

And now, we’re back to exploring what can help us thrive in times of transition. We will begin our gathering at VA Cafe (see here for location) at 10:45 a.m. with some Community Time (bring whatever you want to share – it’s never an “interruption”), then move into the Talky Bit. We will livestream here and podcast later in the week here.

Also, Karen will be leading the Kids Table crew on a walk by the river, so if you anticipate any of your kids being part of that please make sure they have appropriate shoes and clothing for the adventure.

Hopefully our personal transitions will be smaller and simpler than many we see in the news cycle, but either way my desire is that we can support one another to do (and be, and do, and be), our best even when we’re moving through change. And I hope this shared exploration can play a part in that.

I’ll see you on Sunday.

Peace,
Tim Plett
