An Interesting Intersection (Part 2)

Jan 12, 2020

You know that feeling you get when you’re having an enjoyable conversation with a friend and then you look at your watch / phone and say, “Shoot…I’ve got to go!”, and dash off? Maybe only my life has moments like that, but I expect it’s something of a shared experience. In any case, that’s how I felt in our gathering last week. I was thoroughly enjoying the stories and perspectives people were sharing, and then…”got to go!”…we ran out of time. If you were there, you may recall that we were marking the new year, new decade, and the ten years I’ve been with The Table by hearing some stories from the early years of the community as well as hearing what people’s current experiences have been like. My goal was to get to a conversation about the years to come as well, but we didn’t make it that far. So this Sunday morning, that’s what we’re going to do. We’ll start by picking up where we left off (I think we almost cut someone off mid-sentence…you know who you are), and then move on to some reflection on the future.

If you weren’t there last week, not to worry. I expect our conversation this week will feel quite complete all on it’s own. If you want to do some reflecting on your own in advance of our time together, here are three questions we’ll be exploring:
-What do you understand the purpose of The Table to be? To put it another way, what is our reason for existing?
-Why are you at The Table?  (We all have our reasons, and I expect they vary considerably)
-You are part of shaping this community. What do you want The Table to be experienced as / remembered for?
As always, participation is “opt in”.  I’m thoroughly looking forward to what we learn together.
Other Important Details:
-we’ll gather at the usual place (Creative Manitoba, 4th floor) at the usual time (10:30 a.m. – ish).
-the stairwell will once again be open
NOTE: There will be no Kids Table program this week.
I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
-Tim Plett
