This Week in Zimbabwe

Nov 27, 2016
One of the aspects of The Table that continuously intrigues and delights me is that we have access to so many thoughtful and engaged people that are willing to share their explorations with the community. If you were at the gathering at Sam’s Place last week, you will recall that we had the unusual experience of a virtual guest. This week, the Talky Bit will be occupied by a person that is a “not quite” guest…more like a family member that travels a lot and can’t be with us all that often.  Pugeni and I have been trying for quite some time to find a date when he could come in person to update us on the Score Against Poverty project, and as things have unfolded, this Sunday is that date. I’m very excited about this for a couple of reasons. Pugeni is one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met – not in a “whip the troops into a lather” sort of way as much as a deeply grounded and hopeful way. I’m also excited because the heart of the story he has to tell us is one of progress, and when it comes to the big problems of the world (like hunger), it can be lovely to hear a story that points to positive change. So we have that to look forward to.
Other things we can look forward to:
Location: Pantages. All those windows…
Kid’s Table is good to go!
“Not Quite Christmas at The Table” – mark your calendar for the evening of December 29th. Yep, right in the heart of the “what season is this we’re in?” week between the hoopla of the 25th and New Years. Right in the zone that reminds us that the story we engage with at Christmas is more than one day long. The location will be Pantages, and the evening promises to be a feast of several kinds. I look forward to celebrating all sorts of goodness together.
I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace
