What Kind of Community Is This Anyway?
Well, as you may know, I’m of the opinion that this is the sort of question we are not able to provide a definitive answer for. The original events and information are too ancient, too unclear, too “foreign”. If we think finding a singular, non-reducible answer is our mission, that might seem like bad news. But if we suspect that our mission is more along the lines of being reminded to keep on exploring, seeking, questing or pondering, then we may find that thought encouraging and motivating.
This week, we’ll continue on the path Tim Penner set for us last week with his suggestion that Easter doesn’t “solve everything”. We will do that via some dialog between an imaginary guest from the time of Jesus and our own community at The Table. In particular, we’ll be exploring the question of what kind of community Jesus might have been setting in motion through his teachings and his example.
It’s an experiment. I suppose you’ll have to be in the room to see if it works or not.
