This Week At The Table…Whose Got Talent(s)?

November 23, 2014
Yep – I’ve succumbed to the temptation to try to draw people into church by turning the whole thing into a game show!

On second thought, let’s not. And upon still further reflection, let’s see if we can skewer the whole idea that the way God relates to humans is structured like a contest, and a rigged contest at that – one where we are given the impression that if we keep all the rules perfectly we win “salvation”, only to realize it’s actually a bait and switch, and there is no possible way to keep all the rules. Ack…

So that’s what I’ll be taking a shot at this Sunday morning, within the context of Jesus’ parable about “the talents”.  (See, that wasn’t a random title!)

We’ll meet above Independent Jewelers at 10:30 a.m.

Important Info:

The Kid’s Table – next dates are November 23, December 7th and 14th. If the community would like to see this happen every week, Amy is going to need some more help. Talk to her on Sunday, or reply to this email and I’ll pass it along to her.

The Christmas Party – still on, still promising to be better than bacon, unicorns and extended quiet. I’m becoming concerned that we’ve over-promised. It might have been the unicorn promise that did it. But still – remember to mark the evening of Sunday, December 21st for our Christmas gathering. We will only meet in the evening on that Sunday, not in the morning. More details regarding final schedule and who gets to do what will be available beginning this Sunday morning.

Peace,
Tim Plett
